Installation & Care

All products listed here can be purchased from our online store (Adhesive, grout, sealers or maintenance items).

General Information for Tile & Stone:

  • Substrate should be clean, dry, level and should not move. Decoupling membranes are recommended for flooring applications if shift in substrate is expected.
  • Dimensions listed here are nominal as slight variations in size and thickness may occur with most stone & porcelain tiles.
  • Minor edge chipping may occur in handling, installation & transport. During installation process, these can be used as cuts.
  • Natural stone can vary in colour, tone, size (within tolerance). During installation, mixing the tiles naturally (blending) are recommended rather than using similar shades together.

  • Flexible adhesive is recommended, particularly substrates with movement, or when underfloor heating is at present or planned in installations.
  • All tiles must be solidly bedded.
  • Standard set adhesive sets slowly (24 hours) whereas fast set adhesive sets within 3 hours (depending on weather conditions).

  • Apply grout at least 12 hours after the tile installation.
  • Select width joint accordingly to accommodate any variation in tile sizes.
  • We recommend the use of flexible grouts.
  • When mixing multiple sizes together (i.e. patterns) the grout joint may vary in width between the varying sizes of tiles within the pattern.

Sealing & Maintenance:

  • All natural stone tiles need sealing during installation; Generally we recommend to apply one coat before grouting and one coat after grouting.
  • Depending on usage of the floor, re-seal the tiles every 6-12 months.
  • Use maintenance products that are manufactured for natural stone. Do not use acidic cleaners.

Amazing Have just had these tiles laid and I’m really happy with them. Quality is very good and they look very expensive. Took a while to decide as it’s hard to make a decision with a small sample but would highly recommend. Stone deals very helpful via email and telephone.

Which natural stone flooring is likely to be less slippery. I have limewashed walls and like the limestone and slate in particular but stone this is non slip would be preferable. Also do you need to seal natural stone products to prevent dirt and grime?

    • Stone Deals

Thank you very query Our 'Tumbled', 'Honed', 'Unfilled, brushed chiselled edge' finish tiles are less slippery tiles than our 'Polished', however please note any of the mentioned tiles are not anti slip rated. All Natural stone do need sealing, we recommend to seal once before and after grouting the tiles as this prevents the dirt and grime and protects the surface of the tiles. We hope this was helpful, for all other queries please do feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help

Hi. I have ordered a sample of this but have been informed that limestone has a tendency to fade quite quickly in the sun and rain when laid outside. Is this likely to be the case with these slabs? Many thanks in advance, Ian

    • Stone Deals

Hello Ian Yes, this is the case with Limestones , they do tend to fade over time , they are also effected by the acid levels of rain, too much acid can lead to corrosion, these are the negatives for external use for an otherwise stunning and durable material. We hope this is helpful.

Hi We are looking to purchase approx 90sq meters of Romagne Grey limestone. Can you have it all in the one size of 900mm x 600mm? Many thanks

    • Stone Deals

Hello Mr Breeze Unfortunately, although for really small orders we can on occasions accommodate stock for 1 or 2 different sizes in this product, due to the manufacturing process of this item it is not possible to achieve this on an order in the size of 90m2. We hope this is helpful information.

the website states it is 2cm thick but the sample is less is more like 1.2cm. I would prefer if it was 1.2, can you confirm the thickness of tiles or does it vary?

    • Stone Deals

Good morning Mr Evans Thank you for your interest in our product and we hope you are safe. Samples are provided from our suppliers and can differ in thickness on occasions, they are to simply represent the structure of the natural stones. This product only comes in 20mm thickness. We hope this information helps.
