Bathroom Marble Tile Trends for Autumn 2022

A timeless product that never goes out of fashion. Marble is once again, one of the most preferred tile choices this autumn.

Since the world is going from one crisis to another, supply chains, energy costs, labour shortages all have disrupted the production of tiles, whether these are ceramic, porcelain or natural stone. In the case of porcelain & ceramic production, they have been affected more than natural stone due to the consumption of natural gas, no need to mention the current high prices! As a result, the manufacturers of porcelain & ceramics had no choice but to increase their prices alongside with gas prices.

For the natural stone, the manufacturers rely on electricity. As long as the generation of electricity can be achieved by the manufacturer (etc. solar panels) the effects of energy crisis would be more limited for natural stone manufacturers.

Since the prices of porcelain – ceramic have skyrocketed, natural stone is coming back to the market. We are seeing more and more enquiries in natural stone tiles, particularly in marble tiles.

Marble has been used for centuries in home decoration, buildings or as luxury items. In the UK, one of the most preferred locations that customers use marble are in bathrooms. We have seen many trends come and go over the years, however these trends that we will outline below are timeless and many of our customers place orders with more or less same combinations:

Carrara Marble Tiles

Carrara marble is unique, always in fashion, trendy and most sought after at any time. The beautiful veins of grey and white background cannot be imitated by any other man made materials. Matt or polished marble tiles, particularly in 30x60cm and 60x60cm are the most popular sizes in bathroom tiling for light colour settings, as well as herringbone, hexagon, chevron mosaics are always options that go along with the larger tiles.

Grey Marble Tiles

Grey marble should not be underestimated. Usually they are used in darker settings where part or the whole area are in grey colours. Don’t forget the square, basket weave mosaics, hexagons and herringbones as well. Since a whole package is available, customers can choose matt finishes on the floor or polished finishes on the walls in their bathrooms.

Black Marble Tiles

Would you prefer black or white? Or why don’t you go for both? Black marble can be combined with the grey as a dark option or can be used with white marbles as a popular checkerboard format. Black marble has to have some veining, rather than just black background, in order to show character and style. Again, when combined with hexagon mosaics, they create a powerful statement.

This autumn, if you are considering renovation of your bathroom, be sure to check the marble tile and mosaic options before making a decision. Even though porcelain tiles now can imitate the effects of natural tiles, these are still limited, natural stone are always luxurious and in demand.
